gracetoread.com: An Open Reading Platform

View all books in the Collection >>

Open book… This Web application allows anyone anywhere to read and listen to free books online (click on a page to read, click on Play to hear it read). For the beta version, we’re starting with just two full children’s books by E. Nesbit. We would love to open up this application in the future for all public domain books in the Project Gutenberg collection, and all public domain audio books from LibriVox, and to expand the languages supported. We’d also love to offer the ability for user-contributed content, so if you’d like your book to appear here, just let us know! We’d love for all free classics of literature in the world to eventually be able to be opened and read.

Open mind… We know how much books have changed our lives. How much reading and thinking has changed our world. grace2read.com is about sharing the gift (grace) of reading. Audio is uniquely paired with text so that those who cannot read alone can be read to. Because books are for reading and enjoying (even if you can’t read them yourself).

Open world… This collection is all about imagination, creativity, and openness. Because of that, we’ve designed it with open code. You can check out the code behind this project at github.com. You can borrow it. You can change it. You can use it for commercial products. But you can’t close it. This application was developed with an open world in mind. A world where we can share with each other for the common good. Speaking of sharing, would you like to suggest another public domain book with audio for this collection? Or to help with developing code or designs for this project? Feel free to contact us and let us know!
